Selection for Divisional FIS
Maine is in the Eastern Division for Norther New England along with New Hampshire. There are 25 quota spots open when racing in New Hampshire.
National Team Selection Method (NTSM)
Names of competitors in contention are organized by appropriate points or rankings, FIS or USSA, but not mixed, in each discipline of the meet or series for which a team is to be selected (or according to national/regional/divisional/state polices). Each discipline is ranked in a separate vertical column, lowest points or best ranking on top to higher points on bottom. Duplications of the same athlete in more than one column are listed.
Selection is accomplished by proceeding across each horizontal row, choosing the lowest points/ranking in the first row, second lowest points/ranking in that row, third and fourth, if appropriate, before moving down all columns to the next row. As racers are selected in one column they are crossed out in all columns; however, lower listed racers do not move up in their columns when duplicated names are crossed out (taken from Page 29 of the 2017 USSA alpine competition guide).

Rankings
Definition of Internal Tie-Breaker:
Ties broken internally are when you look at the BEST result of the scores that are being counted vs an "external" tie break where you go to the NEXT best result. Internal tie breaks are generally used when there are not very many results being contested.
For example in a best 2 out of 6 results (U14 Championships) with internal tie breaker:
Athlete 1 has a 2,4,3,4, 2 for a best 2 (2 and 2) equaling 4
Athlete 2 has a 1,3,6,4 for a best 2 (1 and 3) equaling 4
Athlete 2 would be ranked higher because of the 1st place
If using external tie breaker in the same scenario Athlete 1 would be ranked higher because the next best 3rd is better than the next best 4th of athlete 2.
