January Racing Update

Tom Knobloch News

Happy New Year to all.

Getting the racing season kicked off has been a challenge but it looks like we’re getting some clarity.  The schedule has been updated for January on this site and everything beyond that has been marked as TBD.

The U16+ races scheduled for Sunday River this coming weekend have been changed.  They have been consolidated into one race and moved to Monday to avoid the crowds. The SG at Sugarloaf has been changed to a GS qualifier to give the kids more time to prepare for speed and avoid the weekend crowds the qualifier was originally scheduled to be on.

Race registration:

  • USSA COVID restrictions limit the number of racers to 100 participants per event. Signups will be first come first serve.
  • All qualifier races will be listed on adminskiracing.com.  There will be no in-person or mail-in registrations accepted.
  • Race registration will close 48 before the race.
  • All race participants (athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers) must complete a pre-screen questionnaire. This will be mountain specific. Look to your club for more information.
  • To race in Maine, you must be based out of a club in Maine for the time being. That may change as the season moves forward so we are limiting the plans to this month only.
  • Follow this link for additional information on Return to Competition from US Ski And Snowboard.

Look for the next update by the end of January at the latest.

As we are dealing with USSA, the state of Maine, and each resort’s specific rules, there may be last minute changes to our short term plans. Please be patient as we work through a complex set of rules and circumstances.
